Creative Space Between the Trees: Discover Local Art at Jasper Pop-Up Village
When you walk through Jasper Pop-Up Village, one of the first things you notice is the bright, colourful studio that looks a little different every time you visit.
Creative Space Between the Trees is a rotating artist studio where Jasper artists can create, exhibit, sell their work, and connect with the people who stop by. Depending on the week, you might find paintings, photography, handmade pieces, works in progress, an exhibition, or an artist ready to tell you more about what they do.
It brings another layer of creativity to Jasper Pop-Up Village, and we love having a space where local art can be made and shared right here in the heart of town.
A Studio That Changes with Its Artists
Creative Space Between the Trees is not a traditional gallery with the same display every day.
The studio is shared by participating Jasper artists, which means the work, layout, and experience can change as different people move through the space. One visit may introduce you to an artist you already know, while the next could lead you to something completely unexpected.
Artists can use the studio to work on their practice, exhibit and sell finished pieces, lead demonstrations or workshops, and connect directly with visitors.
That changing nature is part of what makes the studio worth returning to. There is always the possibility of seeing new work, meeting someone new, or catching part of the creative process as it happens.
Meet the Artists Behind the Work
One of the best parts of visiting an artist studio is the opportunity to connect the finished piece with the person who created it.
Creative Space Between the Trees allows visitors to do more than simply look at art. You may have the chance to hear where an idea began, learn about the materials or techniques involved, and understand how Jasper’s landscapes, history, and community have influenced the work.
Artists including Elizabeth McLachlan and Jennifer Ottaway have used the studio to create, exhibit, and share their work with the public. Every artist brings a different style, perspective, and story into the space.

A Place to Create, Exhibit, and Begin Again
Creative Space Between the Trees was created for established Jasper artists who lost studios, galleries, display spaces, or works of art in the 2024 wildfire.
For an artist, losing a studio can mean losing far more than a room. It may also mean losing tools, materials, finished work, storage, income, and the routines that help creativity happen.
The studio at Jasper Pop-Up Village provides a temporary place for eligible artists to continue working, host exhibitions, sell their art, and remain visible while they rebuild or find another long-term space.
It is a practical space, but it is also a meaningful one. It gives creativity somewhere to continue.

A New Look Outside the Studio
The exterior of Creative Space Between the Trees has also been transformed with a colourful mural by Turbo Bambi Design as part of Uplift! Jasper Mural Festival’s Recovery in Colour project. It reflects exactly what the space is about: colour, expression, visibility, and the ability of art to bring fresh energy to a place.
Something Different Every Time You Visit
Because the studio welcomes rotating artists, its schedule and displays can change throughout the year.
You might discover a finished exhibition, see an artist at work, find a piece to bring home, or have a conversation that gives you a completely different perspective on the art around you.
Follow Jasper Pop-Up Village online for updates about participating artists, exhibitions, workshops, and other opportunities to visit the studio.
